We’ll demonstrate to you how to use the API Connector add-on for Sheets to pull gold data directly into Google Sheets from the Commodities-API. We’ll begin by obtaining an API key from Commodities-API, and then submit a request for gold data into your spreadsheet.

The second section: let’s get started
We’ll start by following the Commodities documentation to get the most recent cotton values in USD.
- API root: https://commodities-api.com/api/
- Endpoint: /latest
- Query strings: &base=USD&symbols = COTTON&access_key=YOUR_ACCESS_KEY

Third section: insert API data into Google Sheets
Let’s copy and paste the URL into API Connector.
1- Select Add-ons > API Connector > Open in Google Sheets from the drop-down menu.
2- In the Create tab, type the API URL we just defined.
3- We don’t require any headers, thus that section can be skipped. Set authentication to none because we don’t need any extra authentication.
4- To use it as your data destination, create a new tab and press ‘Set current’.
5- Type a name for your request and hit the Run button. Your sheet will update with the most recent gold statistics in a moment.
