Get inspired with these start-ups innovative ideas

Around 400 interested people came to WIFI on Tuesday to get to know the newest start-ups, cast their vote in the pitches, or just to get a taste of the Salzburg start-up feeling.

Among the guests were founders, investors and business angels alike

“The demo day shows that the start-up scene has grown a lot in the last few years thanks to our network” Startup Salzburg. “For the fourth time now, we are supporting start-ups on their way to success with the demo day”, says Lorenz Maschke, startup representative of the Economic Chamber and organizer of the demo day.

A total of 32 start-ups exhibited in the Expo area of the demo day, ten of them also participated in the pitches in front of trade visitors

Each of the founders got three minutes to introduce their company. Then there were critical questions from the jury, which included Lukas Püspök (Push Ventures and “Business Angel of the Year 2018”), Lena Hödl (Female Founders), Olav Carlsen, Startup Investor, and Andreas Spechtler, Silicon Castles was. In addition, the audience voted via smartphone.

For six of the ten pitches, this presentation round meant the conclusion of a several-month incubation program within the “Startup Salzburg Factory”.

About Jeremy Cabaret

Jeremy Cabaret, who graduated from Startup Salzburg Factory with his company ImpetroGear, won the Audience Award. He presented a modular backpack system for extreme athletes. The prize for the best pitch went to the Bavarian start-up Klick.ma, a secure magnetic closure for kite surfing boards. The “Aaia” prize (“Austrian Angel Investors Association”) for the “highest investment potential” was won by the Spanish start-up “Service Club”, which can now take advantage of an exclusive workshop with business angels. Also, Startup Salzburg awarded a prize for the best “go-to-market strategy”: It was awarded the Salzburg-based company Polycular, which offers new learning systems using gaming elements and augmented reality.
