Is India taking steps ahead the US and Europe?: The best business school offers an advanced blockchain program

One of the best business schools in India is ready to offer an advanced blockchain program for professionals. It marks the most recent case of global academic institutions that try to respond to the demand of students and the industry to obtain more education about cryptographic assets.

The best business school in Calcuta

The Indian Institute of Management of Calcutta (IIM Calcutta), one of the best-rated public business schools in Calcutta, West Bengal, plans to start a new educational program related to cryptocurrency in May 2019. The Advanced Program in Fintech and Financial Blockchain (APFFB) is intended to address the talent shortage of the giant country facing the financial technology industry. The program is designed for middle and senior management professionals in organizations that need to develop a digital finance strategy.

Preparing not just for the future, but also the present

“A large majority of companies in the banking and financial sector believe that the lack of adequate FinTech talent is an existential threat to their future. Our FinTech program, designed with today’s management and finance professionals in mind, will draw on the deep research and consulting experience of the IIM Calcutta faculty and our modern Finance Lab”. We plan to equip and enable 2000 Fintech professionals in the coming years, explained the program’s director, Prof. Indranil Bose, to the Indian media.

According to the school’s website, the duration of the program will be six months and will cost students approximately Rs. 3.20,000 ($ 4,500). The content of the course will include classes on Analysis and Interpretation of Data, Markets and Financial Products, Understanding Banks and other Financial Institutions, Fundamentals of Fintech, Digital Payments, All about Blockchain, Digital Irruptions in Financial Services, Assets and Cryptography Cards, Risk Management for Fintech, and Data Driven Financial Analytics.

Cryptocurrencies, the new class

Academic institutions around the world have already been offering classes on cryptocurrencies and related technologies for a couple of years. This month, Fudan University in Shanghai launched a blockchain research and development center and, in January, the University of California, Berkeley, formed a new block-based acceleration program for its students.
