New startup companies take over regular travel businesses

Successful start of the year for the Internet Travel Distributor Association (VIR): The Digital Tourism Interest Group is starting the new year 2019 with five new members in its start-up cluster. CamperBoys, List and Ride, MYLi, the refundable and Silverscreen Tours complete the VIR Member portfolio.

With CamperBoys, the VIR welcomes a new platform in its ranks, which specializes in the Bulli-Camping. A fully equipped VW buses can be rented directly at Munich Airport, which is easy to use and is ideal for road trips, family holidays or honeymoons. Also, comprehensive insurance protection, as well as a personalized route planning is included in the offers of CamperBoys.

The List and Ride mobility platform combines for the first time on its website the rental, lending and testing of bicycles. The plan is to build a pan-European bike sharing community that can leverage a nationwide lending network with a wide range of bicycles in metropolitan areas, rural areas, and tourist centers.

The new VIR member MYLi,  is still in its founding phase: In the spring of 2019, OTA wants to launch and simplify the travel planning and booking process with the help of artificial intelligence and novel communication media. The offers of MYLi should not only include flight, accommodation and rental cars but also help and advice in all other places.

Also, refundrebel is new to the VIR member circle and specializes in claiming compensation for delays or cancellations of trains. Train travelers – privately as well as on business – are guaranteed a free examination of their claims, at the same time the start-up takes over the entire communication with the respective railway company.

In the footsteps of Frodo and Bilbo, film enthusiasts can walk with Silverscreen Tours, the fifth newcomer to the VIR. As an expert on film tourism, the company offers tours to famous movie locations and TV series on its online portal. Optionally, there are also flights and hotels.

For start-up companies, the VIR offers special conditions in a special cluster: new members pay an annual symbolic fee of 200 euros for the first two years of their membership. The association thus promotes the founding ideas of young companies in digital tourism, who can profit from the large network of the VIR and seek exchange within the association.
