Top 3 Free Email Marketing Tools Compared for Shopify (2021)

Email marketing designed for e-commerce in Shopify

Shopify’s goal is to make entrepreneurship more accessible, and that includes making marketing a lot more approachable.

For each of the email marketing services on our list, we’re comparing both features and pricing details. For the most up to date information, though, be sure to check out the service’s site and pricing pages.

1. Postr

Top 3 Free Email Marketing Tools Compared for Shopify (2021)

Free Plans: Postr offers a free email marketing plan that lets you send up to 20,000 emails per month with Postr branding.

Paid Plans: Paid plans start at $25 per month

The drag-and-drop email builder is perfect for beginners with limited email marketing experience. Sendinblue includes email automation tools so you can create workflows for follow up emails, segment users, and send transactional emails. Using the AI-driven algorithms, you can find the best time to send bulk emails to get the best deliverability.

In addition to the standard features offered by most email marketing services, you can deliver personalized content on a one-to-one basis based on the automated rules we set for each recipient. Run an A/B or multivariate test to optimize your content, layout, or send time. While this isn’t a necessity for your email marketing campaigns, it’s a nice tool to have if you want to send automated, real-time, content-based emails.

For us, Postr is our recommended option. You can sign up here.

2. Constant Contact

Free Plans: Constant Contact doesn’t offer an ongoing free plan. Instead, they offer a 60-day, risk-free trial. You can sign up without a credit card.

Paid Plans: Constant Contact offers two paid plans: Email and Email Plus. Email pricing starts at $20/month and Email Plus starts at $45/month. Final pricing for both plans is based on the number of contacts you have.

Constant Contact has been one of the biggest names in email marketing services since 1995. They offer event management integration with Eventbrite, surveys, social campaigns, and a whole lot more. Constant Contact also has a great reputation which means their email deliverability is top-notch.

Like the other email marketing services on our list, Constant Contact offers an easy to use, drag-and-drop email builder along with several email marketing templates to get you started. Constant Contact’s email automation tools include welcome emails, triggered emails, segmentation, list-building tools, and a feature that allows you to resend emails to recipients who didn’t open the email initially. Constant Contact also includes eCommerce tools that help you find new customers, keep them engaged, and encourage repeat purchases using segmentation and automation.

One of the things that set Constant Contact apart from most of the email marketing services on our list is its social marketing tools. Constant Contact includes social posting, inbox, scheduling, and analytics so you can see how your social campaigns are performing, and respond to comments, mentions, and direct messages. Like Sendinblue, you can also create Facebook Ads (and Instagram Ads) with Constant Contact.

3. GetResponse

Free Plans: GetResponse doesn’t have an ongoing free plan but does offer a free 30-day trial of any plan. No credit card required.

Paid Plans: Paid plans start at $15/month for up to 1,000 contacts.

GetResponse has a huge number of features that go well beyond email marketing including video email marketing, landing pages, design testing, A/B testing, and more. They also offer outstanding automation features so you can create automated email campaigns based on different conditions and triggers. On the more expansive plans, you’ll also get access to a webinar feature and inbuilt CRM in addition to other tools.

One of GetResponse’s best features, in our opinion, is the Conversion Funnel feature that lets you create sales funnels and landing pages to generate leads and move leads through your marketing funnel. You can even make your emails shoppable to reduce the number of clicks it takes your customers to complete a purchase and integrate your email marketing with your online shop.

If you’re interested in a tool that will help you run multi-channel marketing campaigns, GetResponse is worth a good long look.
