All you need to know about Sony Startup Acceleration Program

KÖLN, Germany, April 3, 2019 / PRNewswire / – Today, the second business of the Sony Startup Acceleration Program (hereafter referred to as “SSAP”) is launched in Europe: Advagym, the smart solution for gyms, will be presented at FIBO 2019, the world’s largest largest trade fair for fitness, wellness and health.

Advagym is actively used in gyms across Europe, allowing operators to retrofit any existing fitness equipment and turn it into digital gyms overnight. After the technical and commercial trial operation, Advagym is the second business introduced by SSAP in Europe. SSAP creates startup projects and supports their business operations.

This is how Advagym works

Advagym uses a time-of-flight sensor on the weight machines, which records repetitions, sets and movement speed. Users simply touch the sensor “puck” with their phone to begin recording their training in real time, and the data is automatically uploaded to the Advagym app.

In the free-weight area, trainers can use the pucks from a list of exercises to select their training program or create their own program, while the pucks in the functional training areas are linked to videos and step-by-step instructions for the proposed workouts.

The Advagym app is available for free download on Android and iOS, allowing users to log their favorite workouts and favorite device settings, add free-weight workouts, create their own workout plan, and view their entire workout archive.

Personal trainers and student assistants can also use Advagym to improve the communication and communication with their customers or members, and to create motivation and feedback on training progress through the creation of individualized training programs. Gyms can use the solution to track their device usage and get valuable information about their users’ preferences.

An easy way

Advagym is easy to install, works without wires or interfaces with other studio equipment and comes with a lifelong battery that lasts for several years. This smart fitness studio solution operates as an open source platform, giving members, college staff and personal trainers access to the entire database.

Henrik Bengtsson, Advagym Senior Business Manager commented: “Advagym helps gyms gain new members and keep members longer. Advagym motivates members to achieve their goals and is a useful tool for gym owners to communicate with their members”.
