Cologne based food startup showing amazing success among it’s pioneer

The Cologne based food startup Hafervoll is part of the HNC Healthy Nutrition Company. The subsidiary of the food company Krüger has taken over 100 percent of the startup, which produces baked cereal and oat bars. For the purchase price, both companies do not provide information.

Since 2013, Hafervoll’s founders Philip Kahnis and Robert Kronekker have been designing so-called flapjacks in Cologne. The name given to British snacks made from oatmeal. The two founders came up with the idea, as they told Gründerszene, when they developed and distributed products for their old employer. They had often been shocked by the length of the list of ingredients in bars and other products, especially the many sugars that disturbed them. The two decided to bring Flapjacks to Germany no added sugar and honey sweetened.

How an oatmeal idea has generated million income for two years, two founders from Cologne have distributed oatmeal snacks. Meanwhile, they are represented in thousands of shops the competition has woken up.

Kahnis and Kronekker first financed their company by crowdfunding over 10,000 euros, and later the three food angels Wolf Nietzer, Horst Schlegel and Alexander von Wedel invested in the company. The oat bars were distributed through several major food chains, including Edeka.

The new owner HNC from Bergisch-Gladbach had already taken over the brand Shameless Smoothies in 2017. And in 2018 the British established sports supplement brands Maxi Nutrition and Maxi Muscle.
