This blockchain startup wants to change gaming as we know it

Ethereum (ETH) -based digital asset tokenization start-up Enjin is launching a software development kit (SDK) for the leading game development engine Unity on March 14. The company announced the launch in a media post on March 4.

The purpose of the SDK is to enable Unity developers to create, integrate, and manage the distribution of ERC1155 tokens on the Ethereum Blockchain. The token development standard ERC-1155 is based on the ERC-20 and ERC-721 standards and was invented by the technical director at Enjin Witek Radomski.

This new standard allows developers to create unlimited fungible and non-fungible tokens with a single Smart Contract. This, in turn, allows for faster transaction times, lower fees, and easier token mass production.

Asset tokenization allows the available amount of assets and their properties on the blockchain to be fixed immutably, for example, to avoid problems with inadvertent changes to updates.

Working for the most powerful engine in the world

The fact that Enjin announces an SDK also shows that tokenizing game objects also allows for interoperability, allowing players to use their virtual objects in multiple games.

Finally, it is worth mentioning that Unity is the world’s most popular game development engine. It is used by over 4.5 million developers and 28 billion games, which are installed on 3 billion devices, based on Unity. These allegations seem to be in line with comments from Unity CEO John Riccitiello, which he made about six months ago at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference in San Francisco.

At the event, Riccitiello said that half of all games – and more than half of all mobile and Nintendo games – would be based on Unity. The Unity game engine works on 30 platforms, including Microsoft Windows operating systems, iOS, Android, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Oculus Rift and many more. The engine also supports the development of virtual reality and augmented reality apps.

As Cointelegraph reported in February, Enjin is said to be one of Samsung’s partners, which will be supported by the upcoming Samsung S10 smartphone.

In February, it was also reported that blockchain company HashCash Consultants had partnered with an unnamed Australian video game developer. This partnership is about the launch of white-code crypto-token and tokenization services for the gaming industry.
