$ 3.5 million investment for Salzburg startup Pimcore

The Salzburg startup Pimcore gets with its open-source platform for data and customer experience management a 3.5 million US dollar capital injection from the Munich-based investment company Auctus Capital.

82,000 companies in 56 countries are already using the solution of the Salzburg Scaleup Pimcore, which was founded in 2013. Among the customers are companies such as Audi, Burger King, Carrefour and Intersport. Pimcore’s B2B tool is based on a business model that is unusual in Austria at least. It offers its data and customer experience management tool for free. The open source source code can be downloaded and modified. Sales are made through various services related to the e-commerce program. In addition to consulting and support, tailor-made implementation and training are offered.

Capital injection from Munich

Pimcore has now raised $ 3.5 million in capital from the Munich-based investment company Auctus Capital as part of a Series A round. The Salzburg startup was supported by i5invest. The funds will take over the US company Global Services and its outsourcing infrastructure in Delhi, according to a press release. Founded in 2017, the provider of digital transformation services has clients such as Continental, Ingram Micro and Pepsi. For this purpose, one will invest capital in the construction of additional cloud and subscription services.

“Modern companies are looking for flexible alternatives to expensive solutions from industry giants such as Informatica, SAP, Oracle, IBM and Adobe. They want to retain their intellectual property and need a platform that enables and drives digital transformation, “said Dietmar Rietsch, CEO of Pimcore. His company offers such an alternative to the traditional proprietary systems in the enterprise software market. It offers “the most sophisticated platform for data and customer experience management”. The adaptation of open source software as an alternative to traditional providers is becoming increasingly important in companies, says Rietsch. “Pimcore is at the forefront of this disruptive approach.”

Cool Vendor

A few months ago, Pimcore made it onto Gartner’s Cool Vendors 2018 Digital Commerce list. In the coming years you want to get further. For example, Gartner wants to be listed in the “Magic Quadrants” and Forrester in the “Waves”. Currently, Pimcore has around 150 employees in Salzburg, Houston and Dehli.
