Google launches solution to connect clouds from several providers

Google wants more organizations to migrate to the cloud and, to achieve this, instead of ending the competition, it made it compatible with its Cloud service.

The technological giant presented on Tuesday, during its annual conference on Cloud, Next 2019, its new platform of cloud services: Anthos.

It is a hybrid service that allows any company to adopt a public cloud infrastructure with several providers, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure.

Its objective, according to the firm itself, is to facilitate the work of managers and IT professionals, especially when migrating to the cloud, preventing them from being tied to a single supplier company.

Thus, Anthos becomes an ideal platform for IT teams to modernize their company’s infrastructure using the strategy that best suits their business objectives, making use of public clouds from different providers.

According to data from the IDC consultancy, it is expected that by the year 2024, 80% of the main 1,000 companies in the Latin American region make use of hybrid technologies or implement multicloud strategies.

“The ability to use multiple clouds in a simple way and integrated with existing systems represents a great opportunity in the market, which will allow companies to be closer to a world where you can register an application once and your code can work anywhere, “explained João Bolonia, director of Google Cloud for Latin America.

To ensure that customers can get the most out of Anthos, Google also announced in Next 2019 an alliance that integrates more than 30 hardware, software and systems partners. The list includes allies such as Cisco, Dell EMC, HPE, VMware, Intel, Lenovo, ATOS and Deloitte.

The event also announced the arrival of Cloud Run, a new platform capable of working without the need to access a server. As with Anthos, it allows customers to use their own infrastructure combined with clouds from different providers.

Some Google customers around the world have already had the opportunity to try Anthos, among these HSBC and Siemens.

“Anthos is an excellent choice for us, providing us with a unified management vision of our hybrid implementation and a consistent platform to execute our workloads in all environments”, said Martin Lehofer, Research Director at Siemens.
