Lakeside Park: hotspot of the startup scene

This year’s event was under the general theme “Entrepreneurship” and provided not only an overview of the research landscape of the company, but also an insight into the exploitation and market implementation of research. More than 600 people followed the invitation to exchange knowledge and open dialogue on the latest technologies, their potential and commercial exploitation. “At Startups Carinthia is in the Top Field”

Carinthia’s Technology Officer LHStv.in Gaby Schaunig explained: “Carinthia is a good breeding ground for entrepreneurs: in start-ups, ie start-ups with a high degree of innovation, we are in the top field throughout Austria”. The support of innovative start-up projects is essential for the permanent development of the business and technology location Carinthia. This happens among other things about the build! Business incubator, the program “implementation of innovative start-up projects” of the Carinthian economic development fund or the Popup-Store of the country.

Klagenfurt: A hotspot of the startup and startup scene

“Through the BABEG Venture Fund, we act as an investor and support founders in the start-up phase, in product development or in market entry. The Carinthian location of Joanneum Research – the Lakeside Park in Klagenfurt – is one of the absolute hotspots of Carinthia’s startup and startup scene. With a new building that will be ready for occupancy this year, we are taking account of the steady growth of Joanneum Research in Carinthia,” says Schaunig.

For the first time, students were invited

Magdalena Hauser, CEO of I.E.C.T Hermann Hauser Management GmbH, and Clemens Gasser, CEO of Nextsense GmbH, were the main speakers. The central theme of both lectures was how researchers turn into successful entrepreneurs. This year, for the first time, students were invited to apply for a place in the workshop “Research and Entrepreneurship: From Laboratory to Market” with Magdalena Hauser. Fifteen of them attended the workshop to gain insight into the world of start-ups, investors, their goals and expectations.

As part of the Future Conference, spin-offs of the Joanneum were also presented in the exhibition area. Joanneum Research presented highlights of its current research program.
