Vienna IoT startup ToolSense wins STIHL as partner

The traditional German company STIHL is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of chainsaws and motor units. The company was founded by Andreas Stihl about 90 years ago, who developed his first power saw in 1926. From one-man operation, STIHL has made a notable development into the world’s best-selling chainsaw brand.

So that the company does not rest on its tradition and can keep up with the challenges of the digital transformation, STIHL has created its own innovation department in the company with STHIL Digital. These include venture capital investments in startups, as well as a startup collaboration program.

Gardening and landscaping becomes smarter with IOT

As STIHL communicated yesterday via its social media channel on LinkedIn, the company is partnering with the Vienna-based IoT startup ToolSense in product development. “STIHL is currently working intensively on Connected Products and Data Analytics. In these areas is also the startup ToolSense expert. Collaboration was therefore close, “said the company via LinkedIn.

At the request of the incubator, Alexander Manafi, CEO and co-founder of ToolSense, confirmed the collaboration. “Currently, IoT, smart gardening in landscaping are on the rise – driven by the need for more productivity and greater transparency. In this area, we can drive innovation with our Ultra Edge computing solution, “said Manafi.
