The Fintech and Insurtech want to conquer the provinces

The Spanish Association of Fintech and Insurtech (AEFI) has announced during its General Assembly that it is working on a plan to create regional delegations beyond Madrid and Barcelona where they work traditionally. North, South, Catalonia, Levante and Center could be those regional delegations. The regional ambassadors of AEFI will have the mission of collaborating in the organization of events and conferences in each region, as well as promoting the Fintech and Insurtech ecosystem throughout the national territory.

Everyone keeps growing

On the other hand, the Spanish Association of Fintech and Insurtech also announced its aspiration to grow by 35% throughout 2019. The recruitment of new partners will be one of the main objectives for the association, which sets the goal of reaching the figure of 170 associates at the end of the year, compared to the 126 that it has at present.

The push for the final approval and implementation of the Sandbox in Spain will be another of AEFI’s objectives for this year. After the formation of the new Government, the association will begin a round of meetings with the different political parties, with representation in the parliamentary arch, to explain the benefits of the Sandbox implementation, as regards the creation of employment in the sector and the attraction of investment and talent, which can also put Spain at the forefront of financial innovation.

On the other hand, the AEFI explained that it continues working to consolidate international relations and will attend next April 10 in Panama to the III Summit of FinTech Associations of Ibero-America, as vice president of this alliance. In addition, during 2019 there is an ambitious plan to consolidate relations with the different European ecosystems of FinTech.

AEFI also marks as a challenge for this year to continue increasing the relationship and improving the services offered to all its members, with the development of new formats such as informal breakfasts on topics of interest to the different verticals that make up the association and the celebration of events informative in which the most current topics are addressed, open to the public.

Positive balance of 2018

Rodrigo García de la Cruz, president of AEFI, made a positive assessment of the development of 2018, where the association managed to carry out many strategic projects for the association, such as the presentation of a white book of Equity Crowdfunding, the creation of the Fintech Women network, an initiative that seeks to promote and make visible the female talent of the sector, and participation in the Alianza Fintech Iberoamerica Summit, the largest initiative in Fintech in the region, chaired by Spain, which allowed AEFI to position itself as an international leader in the field of financial innovation.

In addition to fulfilling the vast majority of objectives they had for 2018, AEFI has been very active in all types of financial regulations and, as García de Cruz emphasized, “we are very proud, not only to promote the Fintech ecosystem in Spain, but also to have an international vision. “
