The issue of the employees in startups: How to solve it?

The New Work movement operates ineffective canapé events in Germany to calm the conscience. Supermarket sales personnel, nursing staff, works councils, low paid workers, low paid clickworkers or representatives of the approximately 1.5 million workers who have to deal with on-call contracts, monitored by nasty bosses in the workplace with webcams and directed in real time If you are looking for the high-priced events in a cool-looking atmosphere in vain.

The renaming of Xing SE into New Work SE does not help any further: This is the culmination of cynicism

Changes in the Gallup Satisfaction Index are also not detectable. Many employers are reportedly making great efforts to retain employees. Nonetheless, the proportion of workers with a strong emotional attachment to their employer stagnates at a meager 15 percent. As many workers have already quit internally. 70 percent of the employees are emotionally low-bound and only do service by regulation. If we add the 85 percent dissatisfied to the working population, that’s about 30 million people. And this value has hardly changed since the index started almost 20 years ago. At that time, the proportion of satisfied people was 16 percent.

People need to organize themselves better in the service and network economics

In the Industrial Revolution, this has happened through workers’ unions and unions. The fragmented and highly modern working world of our day has dramatically reduced the level of organization of employees.

Mike Schnoor referred to the startup scene and agencies. An indicator could be the number of works councils in such companies. It will probably be staggeringly low. For the so-called temporary workers and employees on call, the results will not be better.

Startups and freedom?

Mathilde Ramadier summed this up in an interview: “The freedom of start-ups is a neo-liberal lie for her. The talk about flat hierarchies, everyone is entrepreneur in the company, we are all the same and we love each other, is phrases like crazy. “There were startups where we were all managers of something: people manager, country manager, the receptionist was office manager. The word did not make sense”, said Ramadier.

An army of management consultants, restructuring experts and new entrepreneurs are pleading for flat hierarchies, self-responsibility, innovation and flexibility – without even touching on the principles of power. “Larger companies were restructured so that entire departments found themselves as independent ‘profit centers’. This was done with the aim of enabling more flexibility and developing the entrepreneurial spirit at all levels, with the aim of increasing added value and giving management better opportunities to intervene”, explains Felix Stalder.

Social protection of individuals is considered obsolete

Collective institutions that can provide a degree of stability in life are seen as bureaucratic obstacles. Anyone who asks for a works council flies out and will henceforth be considered a spoilsport. Political freedom, social responsibility and autonomy are far from the idea of flexibilization ideology. They want to get more room for their nose ring systems. Do not let the hipster shit impress you. Behind this is egocentric vulgar capitalism, which sees the state as a nuisance and wants to undermine it.
