Two startups helping Amazon to adapt blockchain technology

The firms are working on the development of a browser complement. Which will work in a similar way as the product developed by Moon to allow Bitcoin payments on the site through Lightning Network.

Two Blockchain service startups announced an alliance to allow users of the Amazon retail chain to make their purchases with Ethereum.

According to a press release published today, crypto payment firm CLIC Technology, said it will be collaborating with the startup infrastructure provider Blockchain B2B, Opporty, just to develop a browser extension. That allows Amazon customers pay for products with ETH funds, without it having to receive cryptocurrencies.

This initiative will take the basis of the Plasma Cash technology, which was described during the month of March by the main developer of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin. For this, the programmers will use an implementation of the Opporty concept, which proposes scalability principles similar to Lightning Network, to make possible payments with ETH for purchases in Amazon.

Using Plasma Cash

In the statement, the companies say that the use of Plasma Cash would provide higher transaction speed with ETH payments compared to the traditional mode.

CLIC Technology CEO, Roman Bond, commented:

“Bringing cryptocurrencies to the electronic commerce market is the fusion of industries that will set the tone for the next generation. We are excited to work on this project with Opporty, and have the opportunity to collaborate on another series of very ambitious projects that they have among their plans.”

In the future, both companies plan to build payment products similar to this one but with other cryptocurrencies, mainly with tokens ERC-20, ERC-721 and other Ethereum standards.

CLIC Techonology is also developing a crypto payment platform called CLICPay, which is currently in the testing phase.

Recently Moon’s team launched a browser add-on, with which interested parties can make Bitcoin payments through Amazon through Lightning Network.
