German startup develops alarms and crisis management software

Creathor Ventures invests one million euros in Serinus, a provider of solutions in the area of alarm and crisis management from Hagen city in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Serinus software automatically alerts the actors involved in critical situations and initiates all necessary crisis management steps according to the predefined set of rules.

As a hybrid solution, Serinus software combines the benefits of a SaaS platform with the added value of integrating with the customer’s system landscape. The solution offers the ability to dynamically use cloud resources for voice, SMS, mobile app, e-mail or fax alerts. It also quickly and easily connect subsystems such as ITC components and IoT sensors to the platform through local gateways.

What does the app cover?

The application spectrum includes alerting scenarios such as emergency alert, emergency calls, fire and evacuation alarms or the convening of a crisis team. And crisis management e.g. product recalls, cyber attacks, disruptions of production processes or major catastrophes. And also networking of humans and machines e.g. monitoring of technical building infrastructure, production facilities or ITK components.

The area of application of the software ranges from computer center companies to companies in the manufacturing industry to public institutions and nursing homes.  Serinus has already gained well-known players such as Deutsche Telekom, EnBW, Siemens, Bechtle and the Deutsches Rotes Kreuz.

The app in use

An example of the use of the Serinus solution is the transmission of home emergency calls by means of app alerting to the smartphones of the nursing staff at the Lebenshilfe Berlin. This improves the mobility of professionals and reduces response times. Another example is the technical monitoring of a wind farm at a municipal utility over public IoT networks. Due to the fast transmission of fault messages, failures of the entire system can be avoided.

Benjamin Lieber, CEO of Serinus, explains: “In a crisis, every minute counts. In addition, human error is particularly common in crisis situations. That’s why we’ve come up with a solution that automatically informs all key stakeholders at the very first critical signs, and is so simple and intuitive that it does not waste time taking the necessary steps to address the crisis. ”

Christian Weniger, Partner at Creathor Ventures adds: “The founding team has been able to develop software that sets new standards in the alarm and crisis management segment in terms of usability and installation effort. This is not least thanks to the many years of industry experience of the Serinus team”.
